We're excited to present the Big Ol' Nasty Getdown - RepurposE Purpose Vol. 1 - Limited Edition Blue/Purple Splatter Vinyl.  This limited run of 1,000 units features a double gatefold jacket, two stickers and a stunning Purple/Blue Splatter 12" Vinyl. We are also offering this with a limited edition matching turntable slipmat.  

During the Pandemic Big Ol' Nasty Getdown producer John Heintz decided to bring to life a unique album as an answer to help keep musicians working while we all stood still waiting to hear what the future held. With live music and social gatherings on standstill, Heintz developed a method of remotely recording music that enabled the Getdown to continue moving forward. This EP is a product of these efforts. 

“RepurposE Purpose Vol 1” is based around a concept that Heintz had been playing with for a number of years.  The concept was taking an existing song from the Big Ol' Nasty Getdown catalog, reducing it down to only its original drum track, and then creating an album of songs all using those drums as the foundation.  Heintz passed around the isolated drum track to a number of his favorite bassists and asked them to write and record a part, then send it back.  Each bassist had an identical blank drum track.  Once tracked, each sent their contribution back to Heintz who then decided the next instrument and player to add to the now drums and bass track. Heintz built each track  instrument by instrument until he felt each song was complete.  Every song on the EP was done remotely except the opening track  "All Together Now".  “All Together Now”, the source of the drums used for the EP, was recorded live in 2016 with Red Hot Chili Peppers/Pearl Jam Alumni, Jack Irons behind the kit. Each song proved to be a truly unique  and showing how far creativity can go using a single foundation.  All the songs sound like regular songs, they just share an identical drum part. 

For the visuals, we brought in famed artist Jeff Wood. Jeff did a total of 8 new designs for the EPs packaging, Stickers and Slipmat.  We couldn't be happier with the work Jeff did.
